A traffic control plan (TCP) is a diagram showing how traffic will be managed around a work zone — which lanes are closed, where signs and devices go, and how drivers and pedestrians are routed safely. Most road work permits require a TCP before work begins.
TC Plan Pro lets you draw these plans in a browser using MUTCD-compliant signs, tapers, and devices on a real map background, then export a permit-ready PDF.
Yes — free during beta. You can draw plans, place signs and devices, and use all current features at no cost. Exporting PDFs and using cloud save/share requires a free account (no credit card).
Paid plans with additional features (team collaboration, unlimited cloud storage, watermark-free exports) are coming. Anyone using the product during beta will receive a discount when paid plans launch.
You can draw plans and use the canvas without an account — plans are auto-saved to your browser's local storage. A free account (no credit card) is required to export PDFs, save to the cloud, and share plans with others.
The app is designed for desktop use with a mouse or trackpad. iPad Pro (landscape) works reasonably well for reviewing plans, but precise drawing is best done on desktop. Full mobile/tablet support is on the roadmap.
PDF — letter landscape, permit-ready, with title block and sign legend. This is the primary export format for permit submissions.
PNG — high-resolution canvas image for embedding in documents or reports.
.tcp.json — native plan file for saving and re-opening in TC Plan Pro.
DXF export for CAD workflows is planned.
There are two ways:
Share link — click the Share button in the toolbar (requires a free account). This generates a public URL anyone can open to view the plan in read-only mode — no account needed on their end.
Export PDF — export a PDF and send it by email. This is the standard format for permit submissions and inspector review.
Yes — plans are auto-saved to your browser's local storage every few seconds. The status bar shows "Auto-saved" in green when saved.
For more permanent storage and cross-device access, sign in with a free account and use the cloud Save button to store plans in the cloud.
Plans saved locally (without an account) live in your browser's storage — they stay there until you clear browser data.
Plans saved to the cloud (with an account) remain accessible while the account is active. You can export them as .tcp.json or PDF at any time. Contact jfisher@tcplanpro.com if you need data export help.
TC Plan Pro enforces MUTCD Part 6 calculations automatically:
Taper length — calculated from Table 6H-2 (L = W × S for speeds >45 mph; L = W × S² ÷ 60 for speeds ≤45 mph).
Advance warning spacing — the Auto-Channelize feature places signs at Table 6H-3 spacing for your posted speed.
Compliance ultimately depends on your design decisions — TC Plan Pro is a drawing and calculation tool, not a substitute for a qualified traffic control supervisor's judgment. Always verify your plan meets local permit requirements.
The app includes a comprehensive library of MUTCD Part 6 temporary traffic control signs, searchable by name or MUTCD code. You can also create custom signs with the sign editor (choose shape, colors, and text).

Click Sign in in the app toolbar and choose "Create account." You'll need an email address and password. No credit card required.
Yes. All data is transmitted over HTTPS (TLS). Cloud plans are stored in AWS S3 with per-user access controls. We do not sell or share your data with third parties.
